As already indicated, to promote sustainable development, and thereby reduce poverty, Karonga Central Constituency would need to position its development strategies within the framework of the Malawi Growth Development Strategy (MGDS). These priorities would need to be realigned with those of the MGDS and thereby focus on: agriculture and food security; irrigation and water development; transport infrastructure development; energy generation and supply; integrated rural development; and prevention and management of nutrition disorder and HIV/Aids.
Through a consultative process with key stakeholders in the constituency, efforts will be made to identify programmes and projects in the area as part of the implementation of the MGDS. In this Section, we review possible programmes and projects in the constituency, which could fit into the MGDS.
