Karonga Central Constituency has in the past been a major producer of cotton and within the framework of the Government’s efforts to revive the “cotton sector” in Malawi the area could once more emerge as a major producer and processor of cotton. Similarly, as and when electricity is made available to the area, certain industries could emerge, as people take advantage of the mining activities undertaken in the area. Boat building is another possible area of activity.
